Sarah Woods attributes her crisp bold colors and dramatic lighting to her life at high altitude. For Sarah, one of the most rewarding parts of her career is being able to live in the remote and wildlife rich mountains of Southern Colorado with her husband and two daughters. For the past eigteen years, while living in the Wet Mountains outside of tiny Westcliffe, Colorado she has had the ability to see wildlife and wild places on a daily basis. It has had a profound impact on her work. Although she often paints the inspirirng landscapes of the west as well as the beauty of rural ranch life, it is the wildlife that she is most known for. Having lived most of her life in Wyoming and Colorado, Sarah feels passionate about the disappearing western landscape and feels a responsibility to document it's fragile beauty.

Throughout much of Sarah's 25 year career she built her reputation as a water media artist. Today however, her medium of choice is oil. "I love the spontaneity it gives me. The richness and strength of the pigment is a perfect match for my sense of color. I am enjoying myself as an oil painter more than any time in my career, and I think it shows in my work."

Today she exhibits in such prestigious shows as the National Wildlife Art Museum's Western Visions, Cheyenne Frontier Days Show and Sale and Jackson Hole Art Auction: Past and Present Masters of the American West.  She was seven times included in the "Arts for the Parks: competition, twice as an award winner, garnering both the Juror's Choice and Founder's Favorite Awards.  She has been commissioned  by corporations, organizations and individuals nationwide.  Her paintings hang in the permanent collections of some of the finest museums. In the summer of 2008 she was honored with a retrospective exhibition of 76 paintings at the beautiful A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art in Trinidad, Colorado. Sarah recently celebrated her 23rd year with Trailside Galleries, an affiliation she is  very proud of. In 2010 she is excited to have joined Hayden Hayes Gallery of the at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
